Welcome to the first weekly news roundup here at Mana with Tea.

This is not a roundup of every news item that may be related to Anime and role playing games but a selection of things that I found interesting over the previous week, and brief thoughts on the news item.

SAO S3 Key Visual (source)
Sword Art Online Season 3 is going to be simulcast on both Crunchyroll and Animelab. This is much like previous seasons and was expected but is still nice to see. Sword Art Online is a fantastic series and highly recommended.

Fallout 76 beta dated

The beta for upcoming apocalyptic survivaL multiplayer game Fallout 76 has been dated. It’s rather close to the release date, so I am thinking this is more of a network test than an actual beta. Still a great opportunity if you want to try the game early.

I am quite intrigued by the game but like Elder Scrolls (excepting online) have always thought of it as a single player adventure. I am still unsure how quests will work given there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of NPCs.

The beta starts October 23 for Xbox One, and October 30th for PC and PS4.

Sony to allow crossplay starting with Fortnite

Sony is finally giving in to the pressure and opening up its service to cross play with Nintendo and Microsoft. This is good news for gamers in general and it is nice to see Sony doing the right thing.

Support is starting with Fortnite soon. Fortnite has previously featured cross play with the other platforms it supports.

Square-Enix teaming up with A Certain Magical Index creators for new callaboration project

Not much to say about this but it should be interesting to watch. Square-Enix makes some of the greatest role-playing games ever, and Index is a great light novel and anime series. The collaboration should be worth a look, whatever it turns out to be.

Castlevania PS4 collection

Konami has announced two of the classic Castlevania games are being repackaged and released for the PlayStation 4. It does not seem like anything has changed from other re-releases, but if you haven’t played them or want to relive them, definitely worth a look.

The games included in the collection are Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night. Rondo of Blood has previously been re-released on the PSP and Wii, and Symphony of the Night on the Xbox 360.

Root Letter visual novel getting Live action version

I am not sure how to feel about this. I haven’t played the original visual novel but the thought of the visuals being replaced with real life people is just weird to me.

If you’re going to the trouble of redoing this as live action, make a drama or a movie, please.

Android 17 is finally joining his sister in this awesome 2D Dragon Ball fighter which is all I need to say. This is the Dragon Ball Super version of the character who loves animals and is surprisely powerful.

Android 17 is available as DLC starting today.
